Required to level up your Dragon Spirit, which unlocks and improves Dragon Spirit Skills and provides Dragon Spirit Talent Points. Also certain Dragon Spirit EXP levels are a requirement to be able to wear certain Dragon Spirit Gear.

Other Ways To Get It

You can get a little bit of free Dragon Spirit EXP from the daily praising of the champions, and sometimes Dragon Spirit EXP is a reward for (seasonal) events. Also certain Dragon EXP level increase rewards contain Dragon Spirit EXP. You can also buy it in the Spirit Altar shop.

Keep In Mind

In my opinion there is still relatively little overlap between the Dragon Spirit and the main game, and you might want to consider whether it is really worthwhile to spend your valuable credits to keep improving your Dragon Spirit.
