Introduction

When you start playing King of Avalon the building upgrade, research and troop training times are only a few minutes, but soon they will become hours and later even days. Although at times you will find that acquiring enough resources is a bigger issue than waiting for your timers, it is still important to make sure your research, building and training speed are increased so you complete everything as soon as possible.

How Do Speed Up Boosts Work?

If we look at research there is an initial Research Speed without any boost, let's refer to this as RS. Any research speed boost is relative to this RS, so 100% research speed boost means that your research speed is now 2 times RS. This means a reduction for the time it will take you to do a research project. With a 100% boost, if you do a research project with original time 2 days, it will now only take you 1 day. Mathematically the time reduction is by a factor of 100 / (100 + Research Speed Boost).

In this game the boosts you can get for research and building are not huge, but since building and research are so important it is still best to do effort to make them as high as possible.

Talent Points

For assigning the Talent Points you have three different trees to assign your points to. It is best to assign your points in one tree based on the activity you plan to do and reset your points if you want to change to another activity. In the Economy category you have the possibility to get building and research speed boosts. There are three projects for each, which give 5% boost each, so a total of 15% Construction and 15% Research Speed boost. Unfortunately the second Research and third Construction and Research are quite far down the tree, so you need to have a high Lord level before you can reach them. Note that relatively early in the tree (can be reached when your Lord is level 18) there is a Development talent that gives a temporary Research and Construction timer reduction.

In the Balance tree there are several Training Speed and Training Capacity projects.

Note that prerequisites in the Talent Trees might be a bit confusing when a tree goes from 2 or 3 branches to 1, for example at the point of Research I. In this case 2 prerequisites are mentioned, but only one needs to be met. This means you can reach Research I by for example only assigning points to Food Production I and ignoring Wood Production I.

No matter the choice for tree it is important to upgrade your Lord frequently so you have more talent points to assign. Hitting Barbarian Huts and Monsters are some of the ways you can get many experience points, but almost anything you do will get you some Lord XP points.

Military Tent

For each Military Tent you get a 0.5% Troop Training Speed boost per level, so a Level 8 and a Level 6 Military Tent give a total Troop Training Boost of 7%.

Research Projects

The Development Research Tree contains a Research Speed I and II, Construction I and II and Train Speed I and II projects that for each category give a total of 25% (5%+20%) boost.

Note that the Alliance Tech also contains projects that give (small) Research and Construction boosts.

Gear

There are Greaves and Helmets that give up to 17.5% Construction Speed and Research Speed boosts each. There is no gear providing Training Speed boost. Enhancing equipment can further improve the boosts.

Keep In Mind

Although not speeding up the building or research speed itself the following are also important to keep in mind. The level of your embassy influences the amount of Alliance Helps you can receive and the amount of seconds each help deducts. Your VIP level influences the Instant Building Speed up time.
