The Basics

In a traditional Sudoku puzzle you have a 9x9 field, subdivided in 9 3x3 fields. In each subfield, column and row the digits 1 to 9 occur exactly once. In the Killer Sudoka variation all cells are part of additional subselections for which the total is specified. This game allows you to play random Sudolu puzzles of 4 different difficulty levels. There are some nice supporting features, like filling in small notes in the fields with the possible numbers.

Tutorial and Review of the puzzle game Killer Sudoku by Sudoku.com.

Difficulty

The 4 difficulty levels give quite a large range of difficulty. Before checking out this game I hadn't played Sudoku for a while, and I was able to complete the most difficult level on my first two attempts, this might mean it is not challenging enough for expert players. One thing I did't like is that at the end of one of the puzzles I got into a situation where I had 4 fields I did't know yet and in pairs of two they could contain 2 and 7 or 7 and 2. There was no logical way for me to figure out which one should go where, so I head to guess. The game allows for 3 mistakes, which I still had, and my first guess was right, but still, I prefer if there is a logical reasoning to get to one correct answer.

Variation

The game itself stays the same, no new concepts, which for some people will become boring, but if you are hooked on Sudokus, this won't matter.

Visually

Simple and clear interface.

Free vs Paid

There are some ads, not obtrusive, which you can remove by doing a small purchase. You can play the game for free.

Is It Any Good?

I give Killer Sudoku 8 out of 10 stars. Great game for Sudoku lovers.
