Introduction

Survival of the Fittest is a recurring weeklong event that consists of different stages. The second stage is called Basic Power Up. This guide contains some tips on how to do well.

Basic Power Up stage of the Survival of the Fittest event.

Important Notice: This is based on the stages and the order as it is currently in my state. This might not be the same for all states, I know from experience in my state that early on we had a different survival of the fittest event with 5 stages ending in a 2 day kill stage.

How to get Points

You get points for consuming Plasma Cores (100,000 points for 1 plasma core) and using Speedups on construction, Research and Troop Training and Upgrading (1500 points per 1 minute speed up), using Elite (17,500), Epic (61,000) and Legendary (152,000) Hero Fragments and making spins in Ray's Place (400,000).

Preparing

You can prepare for this event by making sure you have plenty of speedups and resources, so that you can score points by using those speedups, and use the resources to start new construction, research and troop training projects.

Unfortunately this event follows one day after the settlement evolution stage, during which you get the same points for consuming Plasma Cores and using Speed Ups.

Comparing to Settlement Evolution, Troop Training and Power Sprint

There are several other stages where you can get points for similar activities, the Troop Training stage providing points for troops trained based on their tier, and the Power Sprint stage providing you with points based on power increase in building, research and troops, and Settlement Evolution giving exactly the same points for using speed ups and plasma cores. If your goal is to do well in the overall ranking, I make a comparison how you can score most points with your speed ups. Note that this is not necessarily the best tactic, because it does not consider the rewards for reaching point targets for the different stages.

For troop training, training 1 tier 9 troop (I don't have tier 10 troop training time yet) with a 157.8% training speed up boost (which I have at the moment of writing this guide) will take 0.84691 minute and would give 1270 points for the Settlement Evolution and Basic Power Up stages, 1500 points for the Power Sprint stage and 2250 points for the Troop Training stage, so looking at maximizing your total points the troop training speed ups are best used during the troop training stage.

Although for construction and research the answer is not that easy, because each building level upgrade and research project level has its own ratio of power vs time, some example calculation point out that you do get a lot more points from using your construction and research speed ups during the Settlement Evolution and Basic Power Up stages compared to the power sprint. Ideally you would like to combine things, e.g. use speed ups on your HQ or Hero Precinct upgrade on Monday, but don't complete it, make sure that 4 days are remaining so that you also get the power increase points for the power stage. Similar with research, although such long projects might be a bit more difficult to come by.

Competing with Big Spenders

It is almost impossible to compete with big spenders for leaderboard on this stage. There will normally be plenty of spenders who purchase large amounts of speedups and hero fragments and saving up 2 weeks will not give you that much.
